Project on Monitoring School Level Textbooks of West Bengal

IDSK has set up a (history textbook) monitoring cell, sponsored by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, to  evaluate  school level history textbooks of West Bengal. The cell is supervised by Dr. Ramkrishna Chatterjee as the Project  Director and  Shri Shaubhik Bandopadhyay as the Project Co-ordinator. The objective of the project is to pinpoint the errors, inaccuracies, distortion  and deliberate falsification of history that are found to be infiltrated in many of history textbooks and to  guard against the possibility  of young minds being poisoned by Communalism or Linguistic, Regional Nationalistic and chauvinism.

 Progress Report:-

 1. Submitted a report to CABE Committee on regulatory mechanisms for textbooks and parallel textbooks taught in schools      outside the Government system in West Bengal.
 2. Report writing of textbook for class V is at the final stage.
 3. Evaluation of textbooks for class IX - X has just been taken up and a guideline has been framed in consultation with teachers of      different schools, colleges and universities of West Bengal .
